Excellence in Language Studies Award, Italian
Student Name: Samantha Flores
Major: Italian Studies and Psychology
Bio: Samantha was born in the Dominican Republic and when she was ten she moved to the United States. She was always interested in learning Italian but unfortunately in her high school they did not offer it. Once she got to college, she decided to take Italian because she wanted to travel to Italy one day to perfect her Italian skills. Last semester, she was fortunate enough to study abroad in Rome and she had the opportunity to travel all over Italy. Her favorite church was Il Duomo in Florence, her favorite food was in Palermo, and her favorite ice cream was in Rome. As she reflects on her past year, she feels accomplished of how much she has learned. After graduation, she hopes to continue practicing Italian in New York City by taking Italian classes at a local college. Her goal is to become fluent in Italian in 5 years.
