Excellence in Language Studies Award, Hindi
Student Name: Naman Jain
Major(s): Biology (B.S.) and Economics (B.A.)
Bio: Naman is an Indian-American who learned to speak Hindi at a very young age. Conversing exclusively in Hindi at home and attending Sunday school for a number of years, Naman had a strong foundation in speaking. Nevertheless, writing and reading were concepts he never truly grasped until coming to Emory and taking Brajeshji’s Intermediate Hindi courses. Naman is eternally grateful for Brajeshji’s guidance and support both inside and outside of the classroom.
Naman is currently a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in both biology and economics. He has had the privilege to serve as the Budget Committee Chair of College Council, as the President of Student Alliance for Health Involvement, and as a research assistant at Winship Cancer Institute. In his free time, Naman enjoys playing and coaching basketball, volunteering at the Winship clinic, singing Indian classical music, and cooking various types of foods. After Emory, Naman hopes to attend medical school and pursue a career in sports medicine or anesthesiology.
